GENDER AND WORK

In my opinion, we equate ' productivity with personal success', ' economic progress with success' and  'being busy with accomplishment'. This perspective in my eyes, a capitalistic view of success and progress where paid work is considered productive and important. Paid work, for the longest time has been male dominated. I believe it has its roots in the history as during colonial period or the world wars, men were at the front, they were the Chiefs, commanders, Kings and took the roles which needed less emotions and more strength and toughness, mental and physical. Even during the Industrial Revolution, men began to work in factories under harsh circumstances and women were either doing domestic work or oppressed as slaves and were neither allowed to be leaders nor at the front.  This illustrates the power and control relation between genders since the beginning. I am not sure if we are in a transition period when we have social and cultural norms and condition...

ARE THE PREACHINGS WICKED?

Image
Having been born as Gen Z, we are familiar with and have found more discussions about spirituality, mindfulness, and meditation than ever before. Nowadays, with the provision of connecting with large audiences through various means, people are discussing ways to lead a happy life or to avoid stress and more recently to accept and adapt to the new normal. Being a Gen Z myself, I know what it is to learn about research and theories through experts and not be able to relate with one's own life. It is a proven fact that each one is wired differently but unfortunately, we lack the means to learn the unique ways to remain happy that align with our life and personality. To begin, it is important for us to understand that spirituality, mindfulness, and meditation aren't the same. Spirituality is much about connecting with the soul or spirit of t...

OLD WORLD, NEW CRISIS

Image
We are in the same old world but with all-new crisis.  Though we are leading different lives still come at the  same point of struggling and coping with  tough situations. 'I hope you are keeping well’ is something I have been recently texting to everyone on my contact list. But I am not even sure if anyone would like to share that they are disease-free but still do not feel well or maybe we are not sure what it means to be well. I think it would be satisfying to discover that it is not with you only but each one, maybe some are silent about it while others might not be able to figure out what exactly is going on. Blaming the times for the fuss could be more convincing.   Although the situation remains constant for the world, still our responses vary because of our perception,  ability to control external situations and  our own past experiences. I think all of us have a day where we don’t even know what we did, or maybe  we were busy for a long time a...
